When the call to ride is heard, it doesn’t matter your age, jump on that pony!
Okay, I may be too heavily padded in winter clothes to actually climb up on to a horse on the carousel, but this wise woman caught my eye as I was watching the joy on the children’s faces. She never smiled. Not once. But I think she was reliving her own childhood joy as she went around and around, At first I thought she was on the ride with, perhaps, a grandchild. But no. She was SOLO!
So I smiled for her. This is the woman I want to be. Not to be afraid to get on that merry-go-round and be a child again, even if only for a few minutes. To have the courage to be a solo traveler, no matter my age.
And scowl at the world while laughing on the inside. That is so me – maybe I am more Finn than I thought.
